Victorian Three Stone Ring #VR220311
This stunning Victorian ring has three cabochon sapphires weighing 2 3/4 carats total weight. Set flush in a hand engraved ring with deep relief designs. The ring is 9.75mm at it's widest and tapers to 3.5mm wide at the bottom. Ring retains it's original inscription in Latin "vincit qui se vincit '93" which is a phrase by Publilius Syrus, a Latin writer who was a contemporary of Cicero's and flourished in the 1st Century BCE. It translates to "He Conquers Who Conquers Himself." It means that a person who overcomes his weaknesses or failings, and who is able to control his actions and emotions, wins life's most important battle. Very inspiring for four words.
This beautiful ring is 14k yellow gold and is slightly larger than size 6. Resizing would unfortunately damage the inscription.
